Roughly 50 percent more sets were sold in the first few days at 296,379 as compared to the 200,764 for the uncs. The 2010 uncirculated coin set hits the page with sales of just over 200,000 as the 2009 set leaves with sales of just under 775,000. The last of the 2009 Lincoln rolls have left the page to make room for the cumulative totals of the fractional gold American Eagles sold so far this year. Say nice things about the Disabled Veterans dollar and what happens? It goes to sleep the following week. The Boy Scout numbers listed may or may not be different from those published last week. The “sold out” still isn’t up for the 2010 Boy Scouts commemorative coin. Jane Pierce has arrived in the listings of First Spouse gold coin issues. The hardest thing for me to do is not refer to her as Mildred Pierce after the 1945 movie of that name. This week was a little bit like watching an ace baseball pitcher throw a perfect game. It’s significant. It’s history. Rolls of Franklin Pierce Presidential dollars hit the Mint Statistics pages this week. Sales began at a fairly high level, already equaling two-thirds of the totals of the prior issue. Collectors seemed to go to sleep this week and the Mint seems to be reconciling accounts before programs go off sale because the numbers “feel” somewhat strange. |
