Mint Stats: Slow sales mean summer slump

There were no fireworks in this week’s numbers. Some totals crept ahead by such small amounts that it appears many would-be buyers decided to go off on summer vacation. For example, the uncirculated Army $5 gold piece moved ahead by 11 while the proof advanced by 81. The Medal of Honor commemoratives increased by somewhat larger amounts.

For example, the uncirculated Army $5 gold piece moved ahead by 11 while the proof advanced by 81. The Medal of Honor commemoratives increased by somewhat larger amounts, but

they too indicate that most potential buyers have other things on their minds.

Perhaps everyone was simply saving up to spend $279.95 for the Yosemite 5-ounce uncirculated collector coin. Sales totals went on the board this week at 20,511. The Mint can sell up to 27,000, so it looks like this, too, will sell out as the first two designs did.

Hot Springs and Yellowstone quarter bags and rolls went off sale and the asterisk has been added. First Spouse numbers have seen asterisks added. There were no changes to the totals from last week so I guess I needn’t have waited.
