This commentary is being written on Dec. 21 and will be the final installment of 2022. The next report will come in the new year. But before that occurs, we are taking a look at a very quiet end of the year.

The American Innovation dollar for the state of Ohio is the first product scheduled to be released from the U.S. Mint in 2023. It arrives Jan. 30. (Image courtesy United States Mint.)

The last scheduled U.S. Mint issue was released back on Nov. 14 (the American Innovation dollar reverse proof set), and the first on the calendar for 2023 doesn’t become available until Jan. 30 (bags and rolls of the Ohio American Innovation dollar). That’s a month-and-a-half gap – talk about a dry spell!

Another quiet section of this latest report is bullion. The Mint has not yet updated sales for the month of December, despite there being just 10 days remaining as this is being written. You will see in the charts below that November numbers remain for gold Buffalo bullion coins and gold and silver American Eagle bullion coins.

Even our usual top performers are slowing down. For example, the 2022 uncirculated set, which saw an increase of nearly 14,000 last week, increased by a relatively low 3,232 this week.

Stay tuned for what 2023 may bring!
