What’s New in NumisMaster: January 2025
January’s update on new entries, pricing, and images for the NumisMaster database.
What a year 2024 has been in NumisMaster! Over 7,000 coins were added with almost as many images; it was quite productive! There has been an even greater increase in price changes. The rollicking spot metal prices for our favorite precious coinage compositions of gold and silver have driven the biggest changes this past month. Tens of thousands of values have been changed for coins across the world, which normally track spot prices closely. You may even notice that higher grades are being dramatically affected, particularly with gold commemoratives.
When spot prices rise as high as they are now, we also find ourselves adjusting values for older circulating coins that use silver. This update has been in process for several months but was accelerated recently in a wide array of countries. Pricing for palladium and platinum coins has also been changing, making the Russian ballerina’s head turn. For more standardized value adjustments, check out modern Mexico and Portugal, where projects are currently underway to expand and uplift circulation coinage values, reflecting those subtly active markets.
As we end the year, we at NumisMaster would like to thank every one of our members who wrote in and helped us out with missing information or countries that have had a drastic change in prices. With this assistance, we are able to get to it quickly and make the information current and usable for everyone. We appreciate all the contributions and help we receive from you, so THANK YOU!
This Month’s Frequently Asked Question:
Many of you have written in asking about price variations to coins listed on the website that appear to have grade price discrepancies. With the changes mentioned above and another bullion update, which affected many countries and a vast number of coins, these prices should begin to be more reflective.
