Worldwide concern over the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19 is leading organizers to reschedule or cancel coin shows in Asia and Europe. The first rescheduling notice we have received came from Singapore.

The Singapore International Coin Fair organizing committee announced the rescheduling of SICF 2020 to Aug. 14-16. A statement was issued from the organizers to clarify; “It is with an abundance of caution for the safety & well-being of our customers, partners, and staff that the SICF organizing committee has postponed the upcoming Singapore International Coin Fair due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus in Asia. This decision was made in following guidelines set forth by the Singapore Ministry of Health.”

The rescheduled SICF 2020 will remain at the same location; Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Hall A, Level 1, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. For additional information consult the SICF information sources at www.sgcoinfair.com or facebook.com/sgcoinfair. Contact the organizers directly at info@sgcoinfair.com with any questions.

Just a day before the event dates, The International Numismatic Fair – NUMISMATA announced the cancellation of their March 7-8 fair in Munich, leaving some dealers who had already made the trip to make their own arrangements for meeting customers privately. Numismata’s website states that “the NUMISMATA Munich 2020 has been cancelled! Due to new administrative orders of the City of Munich because of the coronavirus, we unfortunately had to cancel the fair at short notice.” Information on NUMISMATA and the cancelation can be found at their website https://www.numismata.de/en/munich/

Most recently we have received notice from Kavita Lam, Senior Event and Exhibition Executive for the Hong Kong Coin Show, that their 8th Hong Kong Coin Show has been postponed until May 8-9. Please consult the Hong Kong Coin Show website at www.hongkongcoinshow.com for more information.

In the case of the 8th Hong Kong Coin Show, organizers went the extra mile to coordinate the shifting of two major auctions scheduled take place during their event. Their website offers the following statement;

“We have been closely monitoring the situation involving the Coronavirus and considering its effects on the safety of our exhibitors and visitors. As a result, the 8th Hong Kong Coin Show originally scheduled from 27th to 29th March 2020 at the Mira Hong Kong will now take place on 9th and 10th May 2020. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this.

Furthermore, we are excited to announce that we have coordinated with Stack's Bowers and Ponterio as well as Spink to postpone their auctions in line with the new show dates. SBP’s auction will now take place 4th to 6th May 2020 and Spink’s auction will be held 7th to 8th May 2020. Please contact each auction house for further details. This, along with the presence of PCGS, NGC, New Century Coins and Bank notes as well as Trigometric Ltd, ensures a dynamic Numismatic week!

We wish to give a big thank you to all exhibitors and visitors who have supported Hong Kong Coin Show and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this period. We look forward to seeing you all in the very near future.”
