Gold to top Henry sale

Gold will highlight a March 31 coin and paper money auction, mail and phone bid sale conducted by Sonny Henry’s Auction service. The sale will feature the Illinois Valley Collections and others, according to Henry, and be called at the Midwest Center for Christian Living in Lasalle, Ill.

Collecting gold coins can be both fun and profitable if you go about it the right way!

More than 20 gold coins will be in the auction, including an MS-64 1929 gold $20 graded by the Professional Coin Grading Service as well as a PCGS MS-64 1924-D double eagle.

Commemorative gold includes a 1905 Lewis and Clark gold dollar graded MS-64 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corp.

Also among the gold coins to be offered is a 1913 Canadian $10 coin graded MS-63 by PCGS.

An 1882-CC Morgan graded MS-66 by NGC with CAC sticker will highlight the silver dollars in the sale.

There will also be an 1881-S called MS-65 DMPL by NGC and an 1891 slabbed MS-64 by PCGS.

Peace dollars include a 1922-S labeled MS-64+ by PCGS, a 1926 PCGS MS-65 and a 1927 PCGS MS-64.

The paper money section is highlighted by the only known $5 National Bank Note from Lisbon, Ohio, of the Original series during the First Charter period.

Overall, there are more than 500 lots in the sale.

During the auction time a “Basic Grading and Problem Coins Seminar” will be conducted by American Numismatic Association Summer Seminar instructor Brian Fanton. This will include hands on Grading. Hours are 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
