To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) has announced a new product, the 2019 $2 Rocketship.
The 2019 $2 Rocketship features an uncirculated, Series 2013 $2 Federal Reserve note, with a serial number beginning with “2019.” The colorful packaging features fun facts for kids and an embossed rocket ship and moon in outer space. The $2 note is protected by a clear, acid-free, polymer sleeve.
The first day of sale for the 2019 $2 Rocketship was Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Only 24,000 are available. With a price of $9.95, we expect this will be a popular product. The 2019 Rocketship Set released by the U.S. Mint in February of this year has sold more than 26,250 units and has the same retail price of $9.95. That set included a 2019 Kennedy half dollar and 2019 Native American dollar.
BEP products may be ordered through the U.S. Mint by telephone, toll-free, at 1(800) USA-MINT (872-6468), and through the Mint’s online store at https://catalog.usmint.gov/. Products are also available for purchase in BEP’s Washington, D.C. and Fort Worth, Texas Visitor Center gift shops.
