The ANA World's Fair of Money wrapped up just a few weeks ago, but it is still worth talking about. So many auctions took place that there is new news coming out around the corner each day regarding record-breaking prices and special lots.

In a press release from Paper Money Guaranty, we learned that one of these special lots was an 1869 $50 Legal Tender "Rainbow Note" certified by Paper Money Guaranty that realized $180,000 at the Stack's Bowers Galleries official ANA auction. The note is graded PMG 58 Choice About Uncirculated EPQ.

According to PMG, it is considered a "rainbow note" because of "the colors of its front design: a reddish overprint ink and blue-tinted security paper in addition to the green typically associated with U.S. notes."
