A major highlight of any Chicago Paper Money Expo is the auction and this year’s CPMX features another top-notch sale by Lyn Knight Currency Auctions. As in prior years, Knight has a lineup of rare and interesting notes set to cross the auction block, March 17-18 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont, Ill.

Lot 1083: a pair of $1 1899 large size silver certificates from the same block with serial numbers #99999999 and #10000000, Fr. 233

The lot info notes many such pairs were broken up over time, making this set one of a few known in private hands. Estimate on the lot is between $35,000 to $50,000.

Lot 1040: a 1917 Legal Tender Note with a #100000000 serial number Fr. 37, graded PCGS About-New 58
