A Hobby for a Changing World American Numismatic Association

The theme for the American Numismatic Association’s 2024 National Coin Week has been chosen: “A Hobby for a Changing World – 100 Years and Counting.” It was submitted by ANA members Jasper Scarper and Sandy Ivler. They will receive 2023 U.S. Mint silver proof sets.

From early civilization to today, the state of collecting coins has reflected societal trends, collaboration among collectors, and shifting interests. The 100th anniversary event, set for the week of April 21-27, will focus on how coinage and money have evolved and changed to embrace varying cultural values over time.

National Coin Week has been a long-standing tradition in the numismatic community, celebrating the art, history, and cultural significance of coins and currency for the past century. During National Coin Week, participants take the opportunity to reflect on the evolution of numismatics and the role it has played in connecting collectors, enthusiasts, and the public.

The ANA be offering educational and promotional materials for the week-long celebration, including activities for members and Young Numismatists, the annual Club Trivia Challenge, daily online trivia questions, articles from The Numismatist and objects from the ANA collection.
