St. Patrick’s Day is March 17 but collectors won’t need the luck of the Irish to score this product. On March 19 at noon EST, the Mint is releasing its American Eagle 2020 gold proof four-coin set.
The set includes four sizes of the classic Lady Liberty design in 22-karat gold, each produced at the West Point Mint: the $50 1-ounce, $25 half-ounce, $10 1/4-ounce and the $5 1/10-ounce. The $50 1-ounce gold proof coin is 1.287 inches (32.70mm) in diameter and weighs 1.0909 troy ounces (33.931 grams). The $25 half-ounce is 1.063 inches (27.00mm) in diameter and weighs 0.5455 troy ounces (16.966 grams). The $10 1/4-ounce is 0.866 inches (22mm) across and weighs 0.2727 troy ounces (8.483 grams). Finally, the 1/10-ounce is 0.65 inches (16.50mm) across and weighs 0.1901 troy ounces (3.393 grams).
All four coins have a reeded edge and are made of 91.67 percent gold, 3 percent silver and balance copper. Each set is packaged in a burgundy velvet, satin-lined presentation case and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
