Harriet Tubman Commemorative Coins United States Mint

United States Mint Director Ventris C. Gibson has signed 250 Certificates of Authenticity for the Harriet Tubman 3-coin proof set, to be randomly inserted into unmarked sets slated to begin shipping Feb. 12, according to a statement from the Mint. Director Gibson signed the certificates on Nov. 30, 2023, at the ceremonial strike of the Harriet Tubman proof $5 gold coin at the West Point Mint.

The Mint began accepting pre-orders for the set and other products in the Harriet Tubman commemorative coin program on Jan. 4.

The set contains one Harriet Tubman proof $5 gold coin struck at West Point, one Harriet Tubman silver dollar struck at Philadelphia, and one Harriet Tubman half dollar struck San Francisco.

This program celebrates the bicentennial of the birth of abolitionist Harriet Tubman, well known for her role as a conductor in the Underground Railroad. Surcharges in the amount of $35 for each $5 gold coin sold, $10 for each silver dollar sold, and $5 for each half dollar sold – totaling $50 for each three-coin set sold – are authorized to be paid to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the Harriet Tubman Home, Inc., in Auburn, N.Y., to advance their missions.
