As collectors turn their calendars to 2024, the first major show kicking off the new year will be the 69th annual FUN Convention, hosted by the Florida United Numismatists. The show is set for Jan. 4-7 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. This year’s theme is “Raising the Next Generation of Numismatists.”

Known for being the numismatic bellwether event of the year, the show boasts more than 1,500 dealers of coins, paper money, and more; attendance of more than 10,000; and an auction conducted by Heritage.

The U.S. Mint will be in attendance. In addition to shopping Mint products, visitors to the booth will also have the opportunity to purchase the Harriet Tubman commemorative coins as soon as they go on sale on Jan. 4. Making up the program is a $5 gold coin, a $1 silver coin, and a half dollar clad coin. All three come in proof and uncirculated versions.

Also highlighting the show will be an exhibit area, 14 educational programs, a kids' booth, Young Numismatist programs, and Boy Scout Coin Collecting Merit Badge programs.

History lovers can interact with the likes of Abraham Lincoln (Dennis Boggs) and Benjamin Franklin (Pat McBride) on the bourse. Also in attendance will be the Piedmont Gold Panners, who will teach show-goers how to pan for gold. Cindy Calhoun will be on-site making elongated show coins.

Club meetings will be held throughout the show. See the FUN 2024 Schedule of Events online at www.funtopics.com/fun-convention.html

The Orange County Convention Center offers a mobile app to help attendees navigate the convention center. It can be downloaded at www.occc.net/Wayfinding-App.
