George H.W. Bush Products Set for December

On Dec. 4 at 12 p.m. EST, the Mint is releasing George H.W. Bush Presidential $1 coin 2020 rolls, bags and boxes.

These new Presidential $1 coins continue the series of dollar coins issued from 2007 through 2016. They are uncirculated coins produced at the Philadelphia and Denver mints.

The obverse design features a likeness of President Bush with inscriptions: “GEORGE H.W. BUSH,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “41st PRESIDENT” and “1989-1993.”

The reverse design features a striking modern rendition of the Statue of Liberty. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “$1.” Each coin has a Lettered edge, weighs 8.1 grams, and has a diameter of 1.043 in.

George H.W. Bush was a member of Congress, ambassador to the United Nations, and the director of Central Intelligence before he served as vice president from 1981-1989, and president from 1989-1993. Highlights of his term as president include the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act and amendments to the Clean Air Act, North American Free Trade Agreement negotiations, “Points of Light” initiative to promote volunteerism and community service, and the Persian Gulf War success. He died on Nov. 30, 2018, at the age of 94.

Rolls contain 25 coins, bags contain 100 coins and boxes contain 250 coins. The products cost $34.50, $117.50 and $289.75, respectively. At the time of writing, there is no product or household order limit. To order, visit the U.S. Mint website at catalog.usmint.gov. ◆
