In January, the U.S. Mint announced plans to launch a commemorative two-coin set in conjunction with the Royal Australian Mint to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic Apollo 11 Moon landing.

The set will include a U.S. Apollo 11 50th anniversary half dollar paired with an Australian 50th anniversary Moon Landing silver $5 proof domed coin.

The design of the U.S. half dollar obverse shows a footprint on the lunar surface. The reverse features a close-up of the iconic “Buzz Aldrin on the Moon” photograph taken on July 20, 1969.

The set will be sold and distributed by the RAM. For U.S. customers, it will be marketed by the U.S. Mint via a link to the RAM’s website.

A release date is yet to be determined.
