U.S. Mint Releases Survey for 2027 Quarter Program

As the U.S. Mint’s American Women Quarter program wraps up in 2025, big changes are ahead—including new designs for the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026 and a fresh quarter series celebrating youth sports starting in 2027.

The year 2025 marks the end of the U.S. Mint’s American Women Quarter program. The following year, 2026, will see new quarters, a new dime, and a new half-dollar, all to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The Citizen’s Coinage Advisory Committee met in the fall of 2024 to discuss the designs for the semi-quincentennial coins. Now, the Mint is calling on the people for their input for a new quarter program that will begin in 2027.

“In 2027, the United States Mint will release its newest quarters program highlighting youth sports played in the United States,” reads the announcement on the Mint’s website. The program will last through 2030, with up to five new designs each year. The Mint has also been authorized to issue a redesigned half-dollar each year with designs emblematic of a single Paralympic sport.

The Mint created a list of 58 different sports in collaboration with the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition, as well as the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. The Mint has released the list in the form of a survey, asking the American public to rate each one on a scale from “Highly Appealing” to “Not At All Appealing” to determine the most popular sports to be featured on the reverse of the quarters. The survey discloses that the list is not intended to represent every sport played in the U.S., but there is an option at the end of the survey to write in a specific sport that may not have been included in the official list.

The list includes, but is not limited to, American football, Track and Field, Volleyball, Pickleball, Basketball, Figure skating, Archery, Orienteering, Fencing, Kayaking, and Karate.
