By the time the last vote was counted in the final ballot to determine the COTY Champion in the 2023 competition, the nickel silver 5 Hryvnias commemorating the 30th Anniversary of Ukraine Independence had won by a virtual landslide. This coin received 30 percent of the total votes, with its raw vote count more than doubling the closest competitor. That is an unheard of margin in the COTY final ballot. Remember, these ten coins have fought their way up from the COTY 100 Nominees, who rose to the surface from a pool of 400 coins all through the careful consideration of a wide array of numismatic experts. As one would expect this progression normally creates a situation where those final ten category winners are so evenly matched the vote ends up very tight, however, in this case those emotional factors and the feeling of personal involvement I have mentioned before likely played a major part in these results. Our Congratulations to the National Bank of Ukraine on creating a magnificent coin and securing a hard fought win.
