The Next Evolution nomination and win is both a first for the issuing country, Tokelau and for the coins creators, Artisan Coin Productions. It presents a fascinating look at a pair of robots in love. Robotic awareness is a topic that has been tackled by authors and movie directors for at least five decades, but the context usually centers on misunderstanding, violence and tragedy. This coin takes a polar opposite and quite inspirational view by considering robots developing affection for each other in our modern microchip world. Combine that stance with a lovely design and the popular use of black proof silver with selective gold plating and you have an irresistible piece of numismatic art that touches the soul.
