Bimetallic collectors will be queuing-up to get their hands Austrian Mint’s latest silver-niobium 25-euro coin. The mint has selectively oxidized the inner 6.5 g .998 fine niobium core to render it light purple and azure blue. The surrounding 9 g .900 fine silver ring complements the bicolor center most elegantly.
The design by mint engraver Helmut Andexlinger shows timekeeping through the ages. It occupies both obverse and reverse. Mintage is 65,000. All previous issues in this series have been sell-outs with the coins proving of interest to those outside the immediate numismatic field. On the secondary market all sell for well above their issue price.
