Cuba’s revolutionary and political leader Fidel Castro died on Nov. 25, 2016. Mongolia has issued a pair of coins to commemorate his life and to mark his passing. Both show a portrait of the former President of Cuba in traditional fatigues and forage cap. Both have been produced by Lichtenstein’s Coin Invest Trust.
A 38.61 mm, 1 oz .999 fine silver 1,000 togrog proof has been struck using CIT’s smartminting© to give a high relief finish. This has been augmented with a hint of color to accentuate facial features and darken shadows.
A 13.92 mm, 0.5 g .9999 fine gold 1,000 togrog proof has been produced employing CIT’s Big Gold Minting©. This has seen the diameter of the coin increase from the usual 11 mm (for 0.5 g gold) to 13.92 mm while retaining relief height and detail.
Mintages are 1,000 and 5,000, respectively.
