CIT Presents The Legend of the Wild West

CIT’s Legend of the Wild West coins will be released in 2024

In 2024, CIT will release the third issue of its Legends series. Following Terracotta Warriors and Legacy of the Pharaohs, the Liechtenstein innovators now showcase the Legend of the Wild West.

The obverse side of the coin depicts a stagecoach with a "shotgun messenger, driver, and four horses galloping through Monument Valley. Saguaro cacti rise from the background to the left. In the sky above the landscape is a lawman's star featuring a portrait of Charles III by Dan Thorne, Cook Islands, release year, and face value.

The reverse side of the coin features three prominent Wild West figures. Billy the Kid is center foreground, flanked by Calamity Jane on his right, and Wild Bill Hickok on his left. Above the trio reads "Wild West," "No 10 Saloon," and "Dead Man's Hand." The playing cards at the top left of the coin allude to the legend that claims that Wild Bill held the two pairs of black aces and eights with an unknown hold card when he was murdered during a poker game, earning this card combination the nickname, "Dead Man's Hand."
