On Dec. 17, Pope Francis celebrated his 80th birthday. Liechtenstein’s Coin Invest Trust has marked the occasion with five .9999 fine gold proof-like coins struck for the Cook Islands.
The common reverse depicts a portrait of the Pope along with the inscription POPE FRANCIS 80TH BIRTHDAY. The obverse shows the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
The five coins are: $5 (11 mm, 1/100th ounce), $10 (18 mm, 1/25 ounce), $20 (26 mm, 1/10 ounce), $25 (35 mm, 1/4 ounce), $200 (50 mm, 1/2 ounce), and $250 (65 mm, 1 ounce). Mintages are 10,000, 5,000, 3,000, 2,000, 1,500, and 999, respectively.
