The most recent monthly public medal striking at the Nevada State Museum in the old Carson City Mint was held Dec. 28, 2018.

On the medal is a portrait of Abraham Curry, who founded and was the first superintendent of the CC Mint in 1870.

The medals are struck on Historic Coin Press No. 1, which Curry had arranged to be shipped there in 1868.

No more than 2,000 of these medals will ever be struck.

The next opportunity to strike a medal will be on Jan. 25, 2019, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

These monthly striking events will be held on the last Friday of the month until the maximum mintage is achieved.
