Hess Divo Auction Features NGC Certified Austrian Coin Expected to Sell for Six Figures
Mid-December sale includes this gold rarity from the extraordinary Paramount Collection.
A future Hess Divo sale will feature an Austrian coin dating back centuries. It has been certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) and is a part of the Paramount Collection. Auction 341 has already begun to take bids for the sale, which is scheduled for December 13, 2023.
The top lot in the auction is an Austrian (1662-65) 20 Ducats graded NGC MS 61 (lot 193) with a starting price of 250,000 CHF (about $280,000). The coin depicts the Archduke of Further Austria, Sigismund Francis, the last member of the younger Tyrolean line of the Habsburg dynasty. After just two and a half years in power, he died in 1665 at the age of 34. The auction company claims that there are just two known extant copies of this coin.
