Announced last month, the Osborne Mint is offering an iconic collection of American coinage designs reinterpreted in one ounce of .999 fine silver. The first in their American Legacy series was the 1913 Buffalo nickel.
This month, Osborne Mint announced the release of the second installment, the 1893 Morgan Dollar. Using modern sculpting techniques, the profiles have been re-modeled to be ten times deeper than standard rounds, resulting in an unparalleled level of detail and depth, as seen around Liberty’s crown where the individual wheat sheaves and cotton bolls open as if reaching out to the sun. The depth and attention to detail are quite noticeable in her curls, laying loosely around her neck.
On the obverse, Liberty is seen wearing a Phrygian cap with the word “Liberty” on her hair band, bordered by “E Pluribus Unum,” and thirteen small stars representing the original colonies. The reverse depicts the head of Liberty from the 1893 Morgan Dollar. The image is facing in the opposite direction and has an incuse relief.
The American Legacy series is an Osborne Mint exclusive. Each round is edge numbered and comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity. The rounds are enclosed in custom fitted capsules that emphasize the depth of the design and protect the silver from tarnishing.
Not to be confused with replicas, these rounds are a new twist on familiar coinage that collectors will covet for their unsurpassed quality and intricate detail.
The collection is manufactured in the USA by Osborne Mint, the oldest private mint in the United States, with continuing operations since 1835. Products made by Osborne are manufactured to strict standards for metal purity, weight, and dimensions. The O/M mint mark graces the back of every series and every design we sell.
They produce numismatic quality collectible fine silver rounds, copper rounds, and ingots. For more information visit www.osbornemint.com or contact Osborne Coinage Co., at 800- 488-2646, or via mail to Osborne Coinage Co., 2851 Massachusetts Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45225.
