In a release received May 28 from Michael White at the United States Mint's Office of Corporate Communications, we learned that all Apollo 11 50th Anniversary 2019 Proof Half Dollar Sets were assembled with an error on the product sleeve.

The back of the outside packaging sleeve incorrectly shows Gilroy Roberts as designing and engraving both the obverse (heads side) and reverse (tails side) of the Kennedy Half Dollar. Roberts designed and engraved the obverse but Frank Gasparro designed and engraved the reverse.

Customers who have received a 2019 Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Proof Half Dollar Set who want to receive a replacement sleeve can contact the United

States Mint directly at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468) or TTY at 1-888-321-MINT (6468). Replacement sleeves will be sent to the customer free of charge.

The replacement sleeves will have the signature of David Ryder, the current Director of the Mint. The original sleeve was signed by David Croft, former Acting Deputy Director.

Customers who purchased their sets at one of the Mint retail sales locations or at a convention should still contact the Call Center to receive a replacement sleeve. In addition, each sales location will have a supply of replacement sleeves just for this purpose.

Note: Customers do not have to return the entire set to receive the replacement sleeve, but must have placed an order for the actual set with the Mint. This is a special circumstance and the Mint is making an exception and not requiring customers to return the entire product for replacement.

The United States Mint apologizes for any inconvenience this error has caused its customers.
