CIT Coin Invest recently released their new Edelweiss "Mountain Star" coin. Some may recognize the name of this flower from the movie Sound of Music, where its name was turned into an unofficial national anthem while the Von Trapp family fled from the nazis. Since the beginning of the 19th century, however, the edelweiss has been considered to be the "symbol" of fearless alpinists. Only the bravest were able to pick the flower that thrived in remote places. Also, spirited lovers set off to find this flower to prove their courage and eternal love to their beloved. It was the first plant to ve declared a protected species in 1866.

This new one-ounce silver coin implements the smartminting© technology and has an antique finish, capturing the petal's velvety likeness. The coin itself is shaped like the flower and the reverse is a detailed depiction of an edelweiss. The obverse features the coat of arms of the Bank of Mongolia, below in Cyrillic script 500 Togrog, in the exergue in Latin script MONGOLIA 1 oz .999 SILVER.
