Now in its fifth year, the Biblical Silver Coin Series from Scottsdale Mint features the theme “Samson Slays the Lion” on its first 2019 installment.
The .999 fine silver two-ounce $2 coin with antique-proof finish is issued in the name of Niue. Mintage is 1,499 pieces.
Its rimless high-relief design was inspired by wood-engraved illustrations of Gustave Doré, the French master craftsman and artist.
The reverse depicts the famous battle between Samson and the lion, while the obverse obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf.
Each coin is antique-brushed and distressed by a team of artisans and technicians, directed by master sculptor D’Almeida Novissimo.
There are six scheduled releases in the Biblical Silver Coin Series for 2019. Six-coin series were also released in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
The edge of each coin feature a laser-etched serial number from 1 to 1499, with serial number found on the included certificate of authenticity.
Packaging may be of special interest to buyers as well. Each coin comes in Scottsdale Mint’s official Bible replica gift box. For customers looking to display an entire year’s worth of Biblical Coin releases, Biblical Master Leather Cases holding six coins are also available.
