Summer Launches Coin Innovation
CIT’s summer launch features amazingly detailed 3-D coins
CIT is always bringing new designs and ideas to modern coin collecting. Their usage of color, Smartminting, and the sheer force of determination make their launches something to look forward to. And their summer launch did not disappoint.
The new Topography-Grand Canyon is a favorite of many from the newest launch. Instead of the classic high relief we've come to know and expect on detailed modern issues, this coin design cuts deep into the coin, creating a canyon through the coin. The canyon doesn't stop at the edge, it spills over the sides, continuing on like the Grand Canyon. Each groove of the rock is clearly defined, and the coloring creates dimension in the canyon and the Colorado River that cuts through it at the bottom. CIT has made it possible to hold the Grand Canyon in your hand.
Another coin to highlight is the Striking Heads-The Vexed Man coin. The 10-dollar silver coin uses ultra-high relief to capture the bust sculpted by Franz Xaver Messerschmidt. It isn't easy to replicate human emotion in sculpture or coins, and here, the coin replicates the grooves and texture of The Vexed Man, the raw emotion pouring through.
Pictures cannot do these coins justice, or any from the newest CIT launch, for that matter. With new series and concepts and some continuation of fan favorites, there is bound to be something to strike everyone's fancy.
