As time rolls on the average collector will find that it keeps getting harder to find items to add to the collection. I find that after decades of collecting I only find something good in one of ten outings. Since I collect many different things I may be doing better than someone who’s collecting focus is much more narrow. Even so I often find myself buying items that I don’t need as an investment. The key to happiness is to keep your travels productive. When I buy something as an investment it makes the wife happy but is not very stimulating to my collecting mind. Often I buy something simply because it looks interesting which in turn can become a new collection. One such area that I would recommend is the vast field of American Legion Convention Medals. The Legion has been a national group since the end of the First World War. Just like the older GAR they hold state and national conventions every year and each convention has a medal with a unique design that reflects the convention location. Best of all the medals can be found everywhere and they are cheap! Start looking around. I think you will like what you see.
