Chickasaw sales start slow
Sales of the 2011 Chickasaw National Recreation Area 5-ounce silver bullion coin began slowly July 18. Orders on the first day of sales for this latest offering in the America the Beautiful series totaled just 8,600 coins out of a possible 126,700. Nine days later, sales to Authorized Purchasers totaled 10,800 coins.

Nine days later, sales to Authorized Purchasers totaled 10,800 coins.
The Mint has lifted allocations restrictions on the coins. “We have a reasonable quantity of coins available, and they are now being offered on a first-come, first-served basis,” the Mint stated.
As for sales of the 2010 collector coins overall, the Mint reports that the rate of canceled orders is as follows:
• Hot Springs, 29 percent
• Yellowstone, 12 percent
• Yosemite, 12 percent
• Grand Canyon, 7 percent
• Mount Hood, went on sale July 28
