Gold Buffalo proofs lag uncs. so far in 2007
I notice that the 2007 uncirculated version presently has a higher mintage than the proof.
I notice that the 2007 uncirculated version of the American Buffalo gold ounce presently has a higher mintage than the proof.
While that?s normal for American Eagles, where proofs are rather tightly limited, it seems a reversal of the natural collecting order for the Buffalo gold. Collectors tend to prefer proofs, as evidenced by the sales numbers of commemorative coins in the box above.
By the way, some of the gold 2007-W unc. Eagle numbers went up and down this week, even though the sales freeze was still in effect.
2007 unc. sets go on sale from the U.S. Mint Oct. 9; the 2006 sets go off sale the same day.
