A ribbon cutting formally opened the new American Numismatic Society headquarters Oct. 24 at 75 Varick St. in New York City. ANS President Roger Siboni held the red ribbon as U.S. Mint Director Edmund C. Moy cut it with a scissors.

The event occurred as approximately 60 guests looked on, said ANS Executive Director Ute Wartenberg Kagan.

Siboni said a few words about the long-standing relationship between the ANS and the U.S. Mint.

Moy later addressed an ANS trustees dinner at the Harvard Club. He expressed his views on how to bring about a renaissance in designs of U.S. coinage. A Mint white paper is being prepared on the topic.
