PCGS to house no-grade coins in holders

Professional Coin Grading Service will now return coins it labels “Genuine” in regular holders instead of the previous packaging known as “body bags.”

Professional Coin Grading Service will now return coins it labels “Genuine” in regular holders instead of the previous packaging known as “body bags.”

The news was reported by Don Willis in the Nov. 14 edition of PCGS’ electronic newsletter.

Effective for submissions received after Dec. 1, coins verified as authentic that would have previously been “no-graded” will be placed in PCGS holders and labeled Genuine.

PCGS is dropping its Genuine-only service level, according to the report. Now coins can be placed in Genuine holders regardless of the service level for which they are submitted. Variety and attribution services will be provided for Genuine coins.

This service will also apply to crossovers, so all of collectors’ coins can be housed in PCGS holders.
