Imagine all of the finest proof Morgan dollars in one place.
It is the fantasy dream of many a coin collector to assemble such a set.
You won’t have to imagine this for much longer.
These coins will be put on display Jan. 10-12, 2019, at the Florida United Numismatists convention in Orlando.
Nervous does not begin to describe how I will feel around these 27 coins.
I am sure the Professional Coin Grading Service Set Registry® will take good care of them while showing them.
I am eager to take a look.
This group is a complete set of proof Morgans and it ranks on the point rating scale at 69.47 out of a possible 70.
That is incredible.
It is why it is called the “Mr. Perfection 13” collection, according to Cosetta Robbins, PCGS Set Registry manager.
Assembling such a set is not easy.
“Many of the coins in this collection are either cameo (CAM) or deep cameo (DCAM) proof, and some have amazing, colorful toning. The anonymous owner of the set wants to share the remarkable beauty of these coins with visitors to the FUN show,” Robbins said.
You don’t just find these in the display case of a local coin shop.
That’s why it will be worthwhile making a visit to see the coins at the PCGS booth, No. 1203.
Pointing to some of the highlights in the collection, PCGS said the 1880 is graded PCGS PR68CAM, the 1889 is PCGS PR68CAM, the 1894 is PCGS PR68+DCAM, the 1895 is PCGS PR67+CAM, and the 1901 is PCGS PR68CAM.
The anonymous owner said, “This is one of my favorite sets.”
PCGS said in 2018 that he had upgraded the 1885 PCGS PR68CA, 1898 graded PCGS PR68DC, and the 1899 PCGS PR67+DC.
Now, I know not everybody will have the opportunity to attend the FUN show.
That is a shame.
It is not like being there, but you won’t have to feel the nervousness I will feel when I am near them.
Morgans just start my heart beating faster.
