On Sept.10, the United States Mint released a three-coin set, commemorating the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. The set includes an uncirculated 2019 quarter from the Philadelphia Mint, an uncirculated 2019 quarter from the Denver Mint and a proof 2019 quarter from the San Francisco Mint.

The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park quarters are the fourth 2019 release in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program and 49th overall since the program began in 2010. Last month the Mint released the rolls and bags along with the silver 5-ounce coin.

The park manages four of five missions in San Antonio. The four missions are active Catholic parishes and the National Park Service maintains a strong partnership with the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The missions were built as walled compounds, which contain the church, living quarters, workshops, storerooms, and bastions, or fortified towers used for defense.

The reverse (tails) design depicts elements of the Spanish Colonial Real coin to pay tribute to the missions. Within the quadrants are symbols of the missions: wheat symbolizes farming, the arches and bell symbolize community, a lion represents Spanish cultural heritage, and a symbol of the San Antonio River represents irrigation methods and life-sustaining resources. Inscriptions are “SAN ANTONIO MISSIONS” “TEXAS,” “2019,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

The coins are held in a durable plastic card that features a picturesque image and a brief description of the site and the coin, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity on the back of the card.

There is no mintage limit, nor is there a household limit for this 3-coin set.Orders can be placed beginning at 12 noon, Eastern time, on September 10 by calling the United States Mint at 800-USA-MINT or online at www.usmint.gov.
