The Industry Council for Tangible Assets issued an urgent call for dealer and collector action Feb. 8 to counter renewed efforts in Maryland to repeal the sales tax exemption that currently applies to transactions involving coins made of precious metals.
As part of the Fiscal Year 2013 budget, Gov. Martin O’Malley has proposed repeal of this and other sales tax exemptions and credits.
Whitman Expos, which conducts three Baltimore shows each year, has already engaged The Rasmussen Group to lobby to retain the exemption.
ICTA is urging its supporters to contact the members of three state legislative committees, the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee, the House Appropriations Committee and the House Ways & Means Committee.
Phone calls are preferred but emails are fine if they are brief.
