After the usual fun and merriment at the annual Numismatic Literary Guild Bash Aug. 12 in Boston, the organization got down to the very serious business of giving the annual awards.
The organization’s top award, the Clemy, was given by last year’s recipient, Maurice Rosen, to Paul Whitnah, whose many volunteer roles included a stint as the NLG executive director in the early 1980s.
Scott Travers, who organizes the logistics of the annual award judging process, was recognized with the Ribbet Award, which was given to him by Kay Edgerton Lenker. The award started out as a joke and is now a highly coveted honor.
Among the awards given this year, Bank Note Reporter, sister publication to Numismatic News, was given an award for the Best Issue of a Numismatic Newspaper published during the prior year.
