What is your least favorite coin in your current collection? Why?
From the May 10, 2024, Numismatic News E-Newsletter Readers’ Poll. Most readers agree that if a coin doesn’t bring you joy, leave it on the table.
I sold them all because they were the least faves.

What an odd question. I look forward to other readers’ responses.
I might have paid more than I should for some of my collection, but my least favorite? Everything I collected, I wanted. If I don’t like something, I don’t buy it. I have holed coins and bank notes with missing corners. In those cases, it was the only way I could afford an example of the coin or note.
If it doesn’t bring you joy, leave it on the dealer’s table. Don’t add it to your collection. No one should have a least favorite coin in their collection.
Richard Bumpus, Marion, Mass.
I have some sets of platinum (coated) State quarters that I purchased when I had just started coin collecting. A local coin dealer overcharged and took advantage of me. I now know better and do my due diligence before I purchase. I have moved up in my budget and will steer clear of that fellow for life. I wish I could let him know how much that 100 bucks has cost him.

I do not have any least favorite coins.
I admit that, over time, I have lost interest in certain coins. That is when I sold them. Otherwise, the money is just sitting there, money that you could use to buy something you really like.

I pretty much like all my coins, or I wouldn’t be keeping them. If I had to pick my least favorite, it would be the dateless Buffalo nickels I have. I appreciate the design, but without their dates, they get little attention.

My most unliked coin is an EF 1856 Flying Eagle cent with a rather large hole ... most unfortunate, indeed!

I can’t really say I have a least favorite coin. All the coins in my collection are favorites, and each tells a story.
Bill Boyd, Herndon, Va.
My least favorite coin is the Barber half.
