Is the American Innovators dollar series 2018-2032 too long?

Here are some answers sent from our e-newsletter readers to Editor Dave Harper.

Personally, I think the Mint is reaching a bit too far on this one. I’m wondering if the guy or gal who invented the wheel will get a coin?

Or perhaps the Post It Note guy, or maybe the info-mercial guy, or even the Pencil?

Or how about the Band-Aid guy?

How about the Miracle Pillow guy? The Pet Rock guy?

I think this new series is going to be a DUD!

The Mint in its infinite wisdom puts out the Reverse Proof Set, yet doesn’t think that if the Reverse Proof Silver Eagle were to be included they could have made a lot more money doing so.

They simply have no imagination, once again.

Who cares? It is a “dark” series, with no public involvement. Couldn’t care less, won’t pay the Mint extra $$ to get any of them.

Perhaps. If I were the Mint, I would arrange the people in groups to create short sets within the series, say all the medical innovators together, all the engineers together, all the writers, etc.

I wouldn’t do any groupings by sex or race, as I feel everyone, no matter their race or sex, should all stand together in their great achievements.

I think this would also excite young collectors because looking down the road to 2032 for a 10-year-old is a very, very long time. But being able to put together a short set in just a year or two would be seen by them as very doable and within their grasp.
